Jewels of Africa Foundations Inc. is a charitable organization birthed out of our passion to impact the lives of underprivileged youths in Sub-Saharan Africa through education. At this moment, our primary countries of operation are Nigeria and Ghana. We are excited about this opportunity. We are hopeful that our vision to be a true game-changer will be realized, by utilizing education as a tool to nurture, transform and engage future generation of African leaders. We also recognize the many barriers and inequality in women’s education and Jewels of Africa is passionate about equipping both talented boys and girls with much needed skills and providing them equal opportunities to position them for equal career opportunities in later life.
Globally, 1 in 5 girls around the world is denied an education by the daily realities of poverty, violence and discrimination. Every day, girls are taken out of school, married far too young, and subjected to violence in school. Not only is this unjust, it is also a huge waste of potential with serious global consequences." |
Millions of girls are being denied access to quality education, at a time when it has the power to transform their lives and the world around them. Making it through both primary and secondary education is critical to girls being able to help break the cycle of poverty. A girl who makes it through both high quality primary and secondary education is... ...less likely to experience violence or marry and have children whilst she is still a child. ...more likely to be literate, healthy and survive into adulthood, as are her children. ...more likely to reinvest her income back into her family, community and country. ...more likely to understand her rights and be a force for change. An increase of only 1% in girls secondary education attendance, adds 0.3% to a country's GDP. In Nigeria, many of the state governments do not provide textbooks and there are no recommended texts for the school curriculum. Each school improvises ways of teaching their students the standardized curriculum in the best possible way with limited resources.
